New Program, New Projects

The Summer has been long and hot.  I’m back, and learning some new tricks which will hopefully yeild some much more impressive results.  I intend to produce significantly more visually impressive and complete characters and scenes from now on; a total departure from anything i’ve shown thus far.

here’s a look at what a quickie. compare this to anything else here to see what i mean.

Interactive Narrative:

  • interactive processing
  • obstructed processing
  • interference processing
  • I/O processing

Input:

  • mouse : button click, curser position(x,y), movement,
  • keyboard :  WASD movement, up down left right arrows, spacebar, numberpad,
  • voice : microphone, high/low pitch?, tone, volume, etc
  • visual/audio : color, color/pixel change,
  • usb external

Output

  • process : obstruction or interfering with enviornment -to- trigger a code/sequence to occur,

hello stranger

haven’t made any effort to update.  so here’s an update.

pea animation is finished … or atleast i ‘complete’ ’something’ that ‘resembles’ what i set out to ‘produce’ ‘originally’ ….
but i dont know how to upload flash docs to wordpress so i can’t prove it … fortunatly i don’t care what you think!

i do have a gif animation for the first of what i hope will be an army of monsters that will comprise our game this semester!
i give you the Imp Sapper!

i plan to add a rock golem, rocket sled/bike, spiders …, angry mob/zombies/swarm, and various kobold or goblin type machinations .. that kersplode on impact!

stu1: animation project – new stuff

so i completed a run sequence, and ive been needing one since the bulk of the action is the pea running away. also, the first half of an aerial sequence which will preceed a pan sequence of the kitchen.

the kitchen is going to be drawn from a maya animation … because im lazy but MOSTLY curious to see how i would do it. since i want to keep a “hand drawn” look for this project im going to redraw the scene using this sequence as a reference model.
im such a cheater
feel a little bad about not being purely a hand drawn animation – but id have to do something on the computer eventually.

im still mad about onionskins ….

stu1.project:animation; “ultimatly, just a pea”

walk cycle *fixed*
first test with the hand drawn animation is pretty good, considering ive never (successfully) done any kind of by-hand animating before. even flipbooks … never worked out. i didn’t use any kind of walk cycle model for this even though i looked around alot for some. had to just make one up. little rough but it’s encouraging – this project will turn out fine.

no class today so im in the lab scanning, tweaking, sketching new frames in, etc, making test gif’s, more etc, and etc.

ill try and post another test, not backwards this time … maybe.pea_walkcycle_test1 OLD!!!

granted, the game was overshadowed by some outstanding submissions from other groups … considering this was our first game i’m still pleased with out it turned out. my apologies to matt and erik about the title screens never making it off my computer. hope to add a tower defense game this semester with even better artwork, and plenty of it (we have three artists this time).
